Winter boredom

What for power did you use to power it , I have a trolly by bachmann and may have to replace the motor , i have it 5 years and it is starting to make a noise, I may have to get a new power block , I might try and put a aristo craft little critter power block in . Ben

I'm getting bored with Thanksgiving now so I thought I'd post a picture of how my G scale tram is coming along[}:)]
So far the upper deck has been knocked off by a tree,and I've dropped it once.But it lives!!

This is all well and good for you blokes in the northern hemisphere but summer is coming to queensland and it is bloody hot here right now and getting hotter by the day.

Troy can you give me a clue as to the first few letters of yout email address i have it but don't seem to be able to get it out of my list of email addresses.

Strange enough, winter time is the best time to run down here. Our summers are like your winters, except that it's not cold and snowy, but D*mn hot and muggy [:O][[B)][xx(] In the end part of July this year it was sooo hot on my B-day(120 heat index) that I got the trains running and whated them on Tv with the mini video cam and looked out the window too [:(] But I have to say that when we were indoors, I have built (2) GP-20s, a phase 3 GP-9 and am just finishing a custom caboose [;)][:)][^]

So trams are your thing well then it's a blood relation to railways [:D]
so thats close enough.
Maybe next winter a Fowler tram locomotive and trailers[:D]
purely for the tourist season of course.

Looking good mate, important bit of the toolbox are garden shears. Totally off topic and speaking of shears,

Hi Troy,

Nice going, I didn't think anyone still used balsa, apart from the plane guys. I've always used styrene, but then again I've never bent it like you have for the tram ends. Do you weight it when it's finished or will you rely on the power bogies for that?, I suspect a double decker will act a bit like a sail when it's breezy.

Troy, I see you have lots to do, looks good. The part about being bored in winter,,ha!!!! I'm so behind with things to do on the RR, I hope to have some done by spring.
We just poured the pad for the newer grain elevator and sidings.

Hi Troy,

The top looks great. I never thought of soaking balsa wood in water so you can bend it.
What thickness is the balsa wood, and how long do you have to leave it in the water before you can start bending it?

I have a double decker tram trailer plan at home, but couldn't work out how I was going to bend the ends, so I've never started it. I just stick to the railway wagons that are easier shapes.

Also what are you going to use for the power bogies?
My bigest fear when building something is that I'm going to have to half wreck the top to get the wheels on, so I always start with the bottom half. Once I have the chassis running right, then I build the top. I've never seen the top done first.

keep us up dated on the project, over the winter i fix and re paint my buildings, that i have and do maintance on the engines and rolling stock, and make 1or 2 other building for to put out next year. Today i started to repair the buildings. i have three that need new roofs ,Ben [:)][2c]

My Class A project is dragging in the mud right now, trying to cut away the bolsters on the undercarraige for the power truck but I am going thru a cutting disk every 5-10 minutes. Dam things keep breaking! [|(]
