Mogul Ribbon cable - Which two wires are for Power
Posted by equinn on Sunday, August 31, 2014 4:42 PM

I want to cut into an LGB mogul ribbon cable that connects the engine to the tender to connect a female 240 connector, like those used on Aristo engines. I have done this before on moguls that had no sound and I know that the two right-most wires, while facing the back of the engine, are the two that are used for power. But on a mogul with sound I am not so sure and I am afraid to test them for fear of trashing the sound unit. Does anyone know which of those wires in the ribbon cable are the two that can be used for powering the engine?

t is the same 2 wires!!

Looking at the rear of the engine and from left to right on engines with sound boards in the tender..

Rear light

Track

track

Chuff

If sound board in the engine, then the wires are 2 for track, 2 for rear light, 2 for speaker.

So, be careful swapping tenders between mogul versions.
