No experience with the "fairfield" but yes for 1-24 by Greenleaf and others. I have gone from simply painting the underside to sealing and painting to coating with cooper base chemical preservative, covered by sealer and then paint. Most of what i use are the furniture items and I use them a "lawn/patio furniture".

Lawn furniture construction. Old cake pan (NEVER TO BE USED IN THE KITCHEN AGAIN) pour in the chemical preservative and lets parts soak for about an hour. Bakers cooling rack on pedestals with clothespins as "clothes line" for drying parts.Drip dry for 24 hrs then place in the sun for a day or two. Glue will not adhere properly is not completely dry.

Life expectancy tends to top off at about 4~5 years.

Some of the twisted wire furniture also works well and lasts much longer.

Dollhouse kit for GR
Posted by Rex in Pinetop on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 6:30 PM

My wife found a dollhouse kit in 1 - 24 scale and thought it looked nice so she ordered it.  It's mostly thin plywood.  My question - does anyone have experience with -

      "The FAIRFIELD Wooden Dollhouse Kit"?

I know I'm going to have to preserve it well as the plywood will not like rain.  It is made in the USA by Greenleaf.

Thanks,

Rex
