Car (BMW 528 xi) over track?

What would be the best way to cross a drive way with LGB track that a car would go over?

Thanks,

JJ

Its a bit of work, to me where I live (SoCal), best way is to create (sawcut) a recess at least as wide as the track in the driveway deep enough so you can sink the track down so the rail heads are level with the drive, I would make the depth enough so you can backfill it with small crushed gravel under the track as ballast to float the track, then ballast the track with small crushed gravel or stone dust, I have seen the track level with concrete but thats more tricky and its a very permanent solution and would only think of it if you are doing RC battery and track power conductivity isn't an issue (if you lose conductivity under the concrete section, your sunk). If you are planning any kind of undertrack support, PT wood or concrete, that should be planned for as well under the track across any driveway.

There is an article in the October 2013 issue on p. 46 called "Build a pedestrian grade crossing"  that describes a method similar to what vic describes above.

I have a brick row at the top of my drive way that I can demo out and do as you suggested and will use crushed rock as my base. I might also just place a 1x6 wood board over it to protect the rail heads.

Thanks for the replies,

JJ
