Need help wiring this Kit from Bachmann. My 1960 High School Physics Class isn't much help. The circuit Diagram included isn't much help ether.
Thanks, Leo
Not that hard to do, and not really an exact science, either.
You have a unit with a battery box, or the newer "locked brakes" flange drag pickups?
If battery box, you have a + and a - peg. With incandescent bulbs, polarity not an issue.
That's one end. The other is of course the bulbs, which are mounted in the clerestory.
In between is the switch and the contacts from sidewall to floor of the main body.
One side of the battery box goes to one of the floor mounted contacts for the body.
The other side of the battery goes to one side of the switch (doesn't matter which), the remaining contact on the switch goes to the other floor contact.
If you have a flange brake unit, post that information.
I must have the flange brake unit
Flange brake units have big rubbing plate that fits between wheels and rubs on the flanges. Horrible. Better to find some LGB pickup brushes and insert them into the pockets provided.
To work, one side, let's say left, one truck wires to the other left, and to the left floor contact for the body to contact. Right side, one truck wires to the other right truck, and to the right floor contact for the body to contact. If there is a switch, just wire it into one side to break power between the wire connecting trucks and the floor contact.
