That is still a lot of DG, we had 8-10 inches of DG at the Reno house when we owned it and still had weeds. when I removed the wood roadbed from Ver 7 to build Ver 9 at the Oakley house. I leveled the ground, added about 1-2 inches of 1/4 inch rock, then used gray bricks for the road bed, then back filled I had almost no weed's . that was nice.

dwbeckett I tried DG in Oakley, the only things I accomplished were a place for weeds to grow and a place for the Cat to PEE. after that I went to 1/4 inch blue minus. then to bricks . Now I have raised the layout to shelf type. That is a lot dg to move by yourself I hope you have some help. Dave

I tripple dosed the ground with sterilizer, then about 10~12 inches of rubble, rocks, broken bricks, and such. The DG will be at least 22 inches thick. Plan on using "Preen" 3~4 times yearly. All plants will be in pots sitting inside bigger pots. That way I can lift them out for trimming, rearranging or replacing as needed. Every other tuesday I go to the local steeet corner employmnet agency and get 4 guys to do the hard work.I pass out water and supervise. Last thing they do before leaving is dry stack the cinder blocks in the "doorway" so my 5 pounds dogs do not get the idea they can go in there.

Dave the secret to a reasonably weed free gravel field is depth.
We had DG on the ground in the backyard, but that didnt stop the weeds either, but with us we only had about 1-1/2" down, so the weeds just grew thru the rock and thru the useless weed barriers, I am currently pulling up all that gravel to put down pavers, all the DG is going onto a walkway on the side of the garage, difference this time will be that its going to be about 5 inches deep, nothing has grown there so far.

The BTS was far busier than I expected, I was told that the vendors sold alot, and I mean ALOT compared to past shows. So thats a good sign.
When I have the pizza on display I can measure how busy a show is by how much of the time I am sitting -vs- standing. Only a certain percentage of the crowd will be interested in something like the pizza so a good attendance = more interest, poor attendance = less. When I sit alot its because folks are walking by but are not curious and dont ask questions, when I am standing its to answer questions, explain the layout, etc. I think I got to sit down a total of 15 minutes Saturday, it was that busy, Sunday was almost as busy. I needed a weekend to recover from that weekend.

Picked up a pair of "Trolley Stop" passenger "stations, and a few people. Spent most of my time there looking at structure layout on the modular layouts of all scales. looking at how I'm going to place my structures on the new layout, IF I can ever get all the DG tammped into place. Total of 42 cubic yards of decomposed granit, they are dropping off 5 yards twice a month, They just dumped the 3rd load today.
That was neat, makes me think of what can be done indoors. Now if I only had 10000ft warehouse ......
