Aristocraft Airwire Installation
Posted by mrlionel1965 on Thursday, May 9, 2013 9:38 AM

I just got a G3 Airwire decoder and want to install in into an Aristo SD45, Has anyone done this? I am somewhat heistant about the motor wiring to the G3. There are ( 2) 4 wire plugs inside the loco and I want to make certain I get the correct wires to the right terminals while disconnecting the power to the rails. I see no pick ups at all. Can anybody help here?

I would suggest you wait for the new adapter plug from AirWire (available within the next month) , that is basically a pnp install of the G3 to the Aristo board.

Just a follow up here. I got the ADAPT1 and I have to tell you, installing this thing was a snap. It took me 2 nights of dinking around but I will say, it works absolutely wonderful!! Definitely check this thing out if you are new to AIrwire.

My new PNP-ADAPT is now ready.

This does the same thing as the CVP ADAPT1 with the addition of being capable of also using a constant track voltage as well as battery power.

It provides a filtered, polarised DC power supply for any brand of non PnP ESC with directional lighting outputs.  Fits both Bachmann AND AristoCraft locos.

Available in 3 amp or 6 amp pcb's.  http://www.rcs-rc.com/pages/pnp-adpt

Best wishes,

You should look at the CVP Web Site http://www.cvpusa.com/airwire_adapta-1.php

and check out their Adapta-1 board.  The URL has the wiring instructions etc you need.  Bottom line.  Plug the adata-1 board in the Aristo socket and follow the wiring diragram to wire the G3 to the Adapta-1 board.

I've used this in the adapt1-1 in the Aristo PCC trolley to install a Dallee sound card.

Took a look at your web site.  Good stuff there.

If someone chooses to go with this product I strongly recommend the version with the bridge rectifier on TOP of the board (not the default version with the rectifier underneath).  There are just too many engines as well as the PCC trolley with components on the engine PC board which will prevent full insertion of the adapter in the sockets.
