WP & YR names
Posted by GWR to ALASKA on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 7:39 AM

Hi I have just started modeling this railway in G scale and have several Coaches 4 with Lake Spirit on them! can anyone tell me where I can get other "Lake" names and their numbers to replace them on the other 3? any tips on name and number removal would also be appriciated. Cheers

Lightly rub each name plate with denatured alcohol and look up WP&Y on BING you should find the info you need.

Fantastic! Thanks I knew there must be someone out there who made these. I require names and numbers for 3 cars so far,  so I guess I will need 4 numbers and 2 names per coach. I would like If possible in the yellow:-

216   LAKE BLACK

276  LAKE BIG SALMON

278   LAKE FAIRWEATHER

This would be great, do you supply or should I go to GScaleGraphics? thanks againBig Smile

Thanks for your help, I have the WP&YR book "A Pictorial History" by Stan Cohen and that was printed first in 1980. revised in 1990 and i have the latest 2005 edition. It is an excellent book if you have not read it, and it lists all the WP&YR  locos coaches wagons cars flat cars tank cars etc by number, weight length wheel size and these are the numbers that are listed. however, I have a picture I took with me on Big Salmon and it does have a 3** number? I think the passenger coaches have undergone a renumbering in recent times as many new have been added and not all Lake names. So I will have to do a bit more reseach and may even send the company in Alaska an email to ask for clarification if I can't sort it out on the net. I live in Western Australia now but am originally from UK spent 35 years in Torquay, Devon. that might help you with my user name! I have quite a few pictures I took whilst in Skagway if you might need anything. Thanks again Grant.

This link will explain the numbers, it seems there is a first coach and then a second with the same name but different numbers, so we were both right! Cheers Grant.
