thanks , Dave - a 7 foot center aisle is fine as chairs , couches are 3 feet deep and if not placed exactly opposirt each other , provide room for walking between , etc. Cards or chess, whatever could take place if needed by rearranging furniture but really I expect people will sit and visit while trains run around behind them. When alone , which will be the usual, I will have plenty of space to walk around , operate, etc

Laying track on the f loor is a good idea ; in fact , I already set doown the Aristocraft curves to see what I might be faced with

I'm looking at a 2 tier set-up so the heavyweight passenger cars can run "up top " in a loop and below the smaller engines and freight cars can do the desirable operating movements - switching, etc.  I will separate the 2 levels by retaining wall , hillside landscaping , etc so it all appears to tie in correctly

with the diameters of 8ft and 10ft you will have to add at least 1ft to each to give clearance for walls and sides I estimate you will have only a 7ft x 18ft center section not much space for more then 6-8  extra body's plus seating and a card table. a floor plan drawing would be helpful . BTW the 8ft needs 2.5 x 2.5 foot for each corner and the 10 needs 3x3 foot each corner plus clearance space. I would suggest laying out your track on the floor first to see how much room you need . Remember what have on paper NEVER fits. Don't forget the IF factor.

Have Fun

Dave

It´ll certainly help, if you post a drawing of your room here, showing the exact dimensions and position of doors, windows, cabinets etc.

I have 12 feet by 28 feet to work with and prefer to keep the centre area open for seating and discussion , cards, etc while the traijns operate around the perimeter.

Track plan ideas would be great - I expect to have a 2 foot shelf or bench on the long sides and wider at the ends to accommodate curves ( G scale ) with an 8  foot and 10 foot diameter track at the ends

Thank you
