Excellent sketch on gbbari's LGB solution. Just wondering what the main line track center to center spacing turns out to be? I need 6"for it to fit on a double track bridge.

I did not know any railroad that would put a crossover on a bridge. Is it absolutely necessary to place it there in you layout? I recommend taking a serious look at alternatives.

On the other hand, if it absolutely has to go on a bridge, LGB components won't work because the centerline spacing will always exceed 6 inches. I would use the largest number switch you can afford. A 19 degree crossing would require 9-1/2 degree turnouts but I'd bet you will wind up cutting track to make it work..

I believe it is well over 6 inches centerline to centerline. You could scale it off my drawing since that was done using RR-Track software. The track gauge is roughly 1.75 inches wide, so use tht as your baseline. Or if you're willing to wait, I can throw one together this weekend and measure it. I have all the necessary components.

It can be done but requires a very small bit of track cutting. LGB never created a crossover to do this easily with their 22.5 or 15 degree curved switch radii. My guess is a double crossover arrangement was not popular in European railroading.

Use two LGB #18050 (RH large radius switch) plus two LGB #18150 (LH large radius switch).

Connect switches' straight with 2 LGB #1000 300mm straight sections.

Use LGB #13000 30 degree crossover. The crossover, unfortunately, is made with one branch slightly longer than the other. The geometry of the #13000 was made to work with LGB 2 ft radius switches (1200 series) in a multi track station crossover arrangement quite different than what you want.

The #13000 crossover fits almost perfectly between all four switches except for having to cut a few mm off each end of the longer branch. See red circles in attached diagram.

I have done this using Aristo Stainless Steel: 1 19deg crossover, 2 left and 2 right #6 switchs, and 2 - 24inch sections of thrack cut down to 19.5 inchs. Hope this helps. Looks nice, worked well but took up about 7.5 foot of space.

 Thanks Ralph

I think I'm looking for the scissor type.

Below is a link for a 'N' gauge version of what I'm trying to build in 'G'.

I am not sure what you mean by "double crossover"? There are TWO configurations that fit your description. The first is normally referred to as a "scissors with diamond" and the other a "double crossing".

Have a look here and then let us know which of them you mean.

I'd like to know what combination of LBG switches and cross track can be used to create a double crossover.
