I have found that getting the complete motor block is the best buy from RO.
The complete, motor block has motor, gears, wheels and sliders. Eventually you will use all of this and I like keeping spare parts on hand,.
I had 2 bad gears and found that at $10 each, the complete block at $27 that year was a much better buy.
I have had a lot of success getting things through "ANA Kramer" (user name) on ebay.

Having just posted this I note they are now calling themselves ALS Discount Trains. Go figure!
I have bought many items from them, including the motor blocks you refer to, and had no trouble.

How many do you need, and are you interested in used motors?

Thanks for the info about contacting them direct. Unfortunately they have been on back order for about 3 months now. They did get some in via air freight but they chose to send to others first. Can get into long discussion about what has happened in regards to trying to get these motors but it would turn this thread sour quickly.
If you can think of an alternate source for the motors other than the manufacturer... PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Otherwise, all suggestions are welcome as USA has me in a bad bind on this.
contact Charles Ro Company and tell them you need a motor for your locomotive. Part # 22-116.
I've had to order two motors from them in the past. About $35.00 ea.
Yep, that is the motor only... (I avoid calling it a "motor block" which is normally reserved for the plastic "block" holding the motor and gears, etc.)
USA does sell just the motor block see #29

I really don't have any to spare, but I've never had one fail.
Was there a reason you did not want to get them from USAT?
Hello all,
Does anyone have replacement motors for USA Trains F-3 engines?
If so, please contact me at: info@leesburghobbies.com
Thanks
