Freight Car Dawings
Posted by Banshee on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 11:07 AM

I would like to locate a book with freight car pictures and drawings with overall dimensions that could be used for scratch building. I had a publication like that in the past but over the years and many moves it has become lost. I want to start a garden railroad again and that publication would be very helpful.

Cars from a time period of early 30's to present.

Can anyone help me find some thing?

Try to find out an English book from "Ian Allan" called "Historic wagons drawings in 4mm scale", ISBN 7110 0814 7. It has many car drawings from 1948 to 1952. If you have no luck, please tell me and I'll try to send you some of them scanned. Drawn in 4mm scale, it's quite easy to get them multiplied by 3,38666 times to get 1:22.5 scale, etc.

Sorry, Ian Allan is the publisher and F.J.Roche, the author.

Thanks for your reply.

No luck on the publication you mentioned.

Do you have a drawings for a tank car or a hopper car? Any year from mid 1900 to present will do.

Thanks for the suggestion but I would like to do cars in the 1950's and newer.
