1:20 scale automobiles

Can we have every who can contribute to a list of 1:20 scale automobiles? I would really like have some options. Has Garden Railways Mag. ever run such a thing? Future article maybe?

Nope, GR has not run a list of cars (of any scale). Interesting idea, though.

I'm using 1:18 cars, they are "close enough" in scale and there is a huge selection to choose from.

I only have a few due to the small size of my layout but they include:
American:
56 Chevy Bel Air
55 Ford Pick Up
35 Chevy Pick Up Truck
44 Willy's Jeep
57 Ford Woody Wagon
also in this era...
Ed "Big Daddy" Roths "Beatnik Bandit"

What can I say, The Jetsons was made in the early 60's so its fairly close to my period...a promotional mock up for that newfangled TV thing? Its to scale, looks really cool, and has the entire Jetson's family inside. Its a great model from Polar Lights, so is the Homer-mobile, I couldnt resist....Mmm donuts..[:D]

Left to right - A 1:19 Ford Pickup, a 1:20 person, a 1:20 Ford, a 1:22.5 person, and a 1:24 vechicle.


Though a 1:20 person doesn't look too scale with a 1:24 car....[:D]

The Solido models are theoretically 1:19. The Hubley (now Scale Models) are theoretically 1:20. These are metal kits that are apparently no longer in production. There's quite a list. The Ford TT truck is theoretically 1:20.

I say theoretically, because I have never tried to measure them to see if they're correct.

It was this very same thing that I saw on your site that prompted the initial question.

This same quandery is what promted my Rant of Frustration "Its official, I'm going insane, Is anything in scale anymore?" when I tried to use a supposedly 1/29 scale Aristo Craft engineer figure in a 1/24 scale car it was like trying to Shaquil O'neal into a Mini-Cooper, so I tried a 1/18 car and it fit perfect, i have since so far had no troubles with figures fitting in the big cars. the question of "is it correct scale" falls by the wayside as the figures "look" right proportionaly. To my Eye, 1/18 cars work well with 1/20.3 or 1/22.5, 1/24 cars work with 1/29 trains and 1/32 cars are only for 1/32 trains.

I, as always, am in total awe of your work. Your fleet of autos is spectacular! Would you seriously build me one, or some? If so, how would I pay you? I've never purchased something from overseas? How would it be shipped?
