Hello, i was wondering how much the ruby locomotive usually cost. I do Ho scale and want to try something a bit different, so i chose G-Gauge since i saw the setups they had at the PPG building in Piitsburgh during christmas.

Found them online mostly around $400 for the kit.

You could start out with a small LGB set for about that amount and it would come with some track, a power pack, a locomotive and probably one or two cars too.  Just a suggestion.

I do not suffer from insanity...I enjoy every minute of it!!!      Over 60 and still playing with toys!

Ruby tends to range between $500-$600 for the ready to run versions. They are a great way to start in live steam. You will need to set your track outside or under a canopy. Dont run them inside as they are live flame and fuel residue does occasioanally catch fire , not too occasionally and they sputter water and lube oil all over the track . Quite messy indoors so set it up where it can get good and messy.Try to get widest curves possible as these do tend to rocket around the track at high speed and tight curves can produce Lionel like trains flying off corners

   Have fun with your trains
