aristocraft switch question
Posted by Mike Dorsch CJ&M r.r. on Sunday, May 15, 2011 11:00 AM

I am using Aristocraft #6 switches on my railroad. When I run small locomotives like my Hartland Mighty Mac over some of them the locomotive will stall on the frog . The track is clean so that isn't the problem. Does anyone have a fix for this ? I hate to keep nudgeing the locomotive all the time . Thanks in advance for any advice .

The microswitch or the wiring is bad... check out that the microswitch is working first with an ohmmeter. There are several failure modes that could explain this.

I suggest you read up on it, this page has examples and an overview: http://www.elmassian.com/trains-mainmenu-27/track-mainmenu-93/aristo-track

More here: http://www.elmassian.com/trains-mainmenu-27/track-mainmenu-93/aristo-track/aristo-6-switches-mainmenu-97

That should get you started... the answer is in those pages.

Regards, Greg

After reading those, post any other questions or problems. (Also any suggestions for improvements on my writing!!!)

If you have a problem not addressed, a picture often helps.

The stalling is almost certainly bad wiring, blown thermal cutout or jammed microswitch. Just threw out the one yesterday that was in the pictures, jammed in direction.
