Trainz.Com Problems
Posted by Independent Operator on Thursday, April 7, 2011 7:23 PM

Just curious if anyone else has had or is having problems with Trainz.Com in their taking care of business in a timely manner.

I dealt with them both in buying from them and selling to them for a few years now.  The last go a round is really ticking me off.  I sold them a bunch of rolling stock that I really did not need as I had too much stuff.  This was the third or fourth sale to them over a couple of years.  Their office that cuts and mails the checks for items bought has had the request from their buyers to pay me since March 18.  Tomorrow  will be three weeks that they have not sent me a check.  The lady that acts as the go between between Trainz and us can't give me a date as to when I'll get paid.  She says she will notify me when the check is on the way.  I found out yesterday that she is on vacation untill next week sometime.  I then emailed customer service asking them to get off of it and expedite my check.  I received an answer today that they will pass my message on to her when she gets back.

Is this anyway to run a business?

Mr. Jager,

We are terribly sorry for the delay in payment for your trains.  As always, customer service is our number one priority and we constantly strive to make improvements to our system to make transactions easier for both our buyers and sellers.  Unfortunately we did not live up to our own standards this time.  Trainz.com would like to assure you that we are making every effort to investigate the delay in payment so that we can provide prompt and efficient customer service for all of our clients.  We appreciate your business and hope that you will accept our apologies for any convenience this may have caused.

Sincerely,

The staff at Trainz.com

Now THAT"S the way to run a business. Apparently they screwed up and they're owning up to it. I'm inclined to believe them when they say they're sorry and will try to fix the problem. Good for you, Trainz.com.

I've had numerous problems/misunderstandings with small hobby related businesses over the past few years and have found a decreasing level of customer service and offers to "make it right" when there's a problem. Too often there's a 'take-or-leave-it' attitude, particularly with ebay sellers.

I've bought several times from Trainz, and am happy with the transactions. The most recent sale was a USAT passenger car. There was a tiny scratch on the top, and they went to the trouble to document it and produce a picture. The car was in new condition, no marks on the wheels at all, original packing holding the trucks in place.

(trainz guys, my ebay id is trainssd )

Nice to see quick response and non confrontative response...
