G Scale ground Throws
Posted by pennsyj1fan on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 4:00 PM

I need to get some ground throws as my Aristo on my turnouts didn't survive 12 seasons and are hard to throw.  I can get the Ten Mille from a dealer here in Ohio where I get most of my track supplies, they look allright but wondered if there are any that look like Caboose Industries or any plans for scratch built that are fairly simple to build.  Thank you for any ideas, tips or hints.

Hello Steve, I found this photo on the 7/8ths railway site.

These are cheap, reliable & use the kiss principle. I hope this starts others to share their ideas on this subject.

Cheers from Andrew

Garden Railway has plans for switch stands.  I built a few for my RR and they work very well and look great.  Ill have to get back to you on the issue if you want them.

Hi, Steve.

Sunset Valley has some great ground throws...the look like the real thing, and the throw is adjustable.  I've used 8 of them and will use more.  Go to svrronline.com; Pete and Carol Comley will give you great service!

I have been looking for these plans in my back issues for a while now. If you could please tell me which issue they are in i would greatly appreciate it.

Ten Milles are still great, but the price has shot up.

Is it REAL? or Just 1:29 scale?

I use the one made by Cliff Barker for G1 and G3. The Tenmille ones are very good and are still in my opinion worth the money.

(Please ignore the ugly home made "rose" joints -but they do work!)

I was looking around for Sunset Valley ground throws and found this thread. Does anybody have good pictures of SV ground throws or could give me some rough dimensions? Thanks in advance.
