I think that is going to depend a lot on your local climate and how the machine is installed. No electrical device with a moving part projecting from within (the throw lever) can be absolutely sealed against the elements, so if the machine is in a location subject to flooding water can enter through the throw bar opening.
There's very little long term information on them used outside. Personally, seeing the internal construction and knowing how tough it is to keep electric switch motors working outdoors, I would use something else. LGB ones have the best reputation in electric, non DCC outdoors.
They were initially claimed to be waterproof, then later water resistant. When I dissected one, my confidence in water resistance was severely diminished.
