Fine line tape is a plastic rather than paper based tape.  it does work well on flat surfaces but is hard if there are any bumps like rivets.  any masking tape has to be firmly burnished down to reduce the bleed under the tape.  the fine line tape is tricky because it is stiffer than regular blue or green painter's tape.

Why not just use what is called "FINE LINE" masking tape. It is used in autobody shop's, boatyard's and I have also seen it available in a number of paint type stores. GOOD LUCK Big Smile

When you tape off anytype of painting and need NO bleed through, put a coat of the same colored paint that the tape is covering, on top of the tape. Let it dry, then paint the new color you are wanting. The first coat on top of the tape seals the edging, preventing bleed through. Then

the new color will have a very crisp and sharp line.

The green painters tape, right? We used some of it when we repainted the inside of our house. It doesn't seem any better than regular painters tape, but we might have pulled it off too soon. I don't know if it works with spray paint or not-I would think it would, though.
