Caution MTH's G scale GG-1

This is written to caution anyone with a MTH rail1king GG-1.

Careful when lifting the GG-1. The coupler mount is very weak. I hooked the coupler in the palm of my hand as I lifted it the GG-1 off the track. I broke the bracket that attaches the remote controlled coupler to the engine.

I ordered several from MTH. As I was installing the new one I broke it.

Changing it was easy. Remove the four screws from the bottom of the pilot and disassemble it. Then you gain easier access to the two screws that hold the mounting bracket.

Keep track of the coupler centering spring. It flips out easily. Also when you are reassembling the coupler. The spring gets caught in the assembly. Before your last turn on the screw. Make sure it is free to move.
