Chin up, Dave. Do what you can when you can. You can think about me in the below-freezing Midwest weather--I would trade you for rain anyday. Wink

Hey Dave,

Yeah, its been pretty wet here too in the Monterey area with more rain and storms to come.  Of course the roof job that was done a few years ago and has passed warranty is now leaking like a sieve over the back porch.  Carrying my 67 year old butt up the ladder ain't what it used to be when I worked in the trades.  Health issues---my wife has had and is having too many for me to keep complete track of with the overbilling from the local hospital and doctors and the under payments from our insurance carriers.  What a total cluster.  For me---I take about seven meds a day and wish I had a cigerette to smoke on the leaky pack porch in the rain.  My railroad along with the backyard is turning into a weed center after all the raining and I'm starting to not care.  Right now I'm kind of in a burn out mode on railroading and hope that my enthusiasm for it comes back in the spring when I get all the hospital, doctor, insurance and other problems worked out.  I should say if as murphy's law seems to have a cloud hanging over my head as of late.  Merry Christmas Dave.  These are our golden years my friend.  I wonder when I'm going to find that pot of gold.

I hate the rain, after being sick for two month's plus, now it's the rainy season for the Bay Area. I'm so far behind I don't know where to start. my project list just keep's growing. I'm not allowed to paint in the garrage ( bad lung's ) and can't paint outside. Besides I'm not ready to paint can't get to the four engines in storage. the box is to heavy for me carry and take off the top shelf. That suck's.. the last hospital trip plus the 3 week's before and four week's after ( so far ) have done a number on me... So how's your Winter going, I can't wait till March when we go back to good weather.

Ok, I am in good health and have not experienced prolonged health problems. However it is cold wet and have had some snow here in Maine and the railroad is all but closed down for the season. This is the time of year that I look for inspiration and plan for next spring’s operations. Some projects are done out in the workshop and others are kitchen table top projects.  Winter time can be depressing but, I found satisfaction can be gained in small steps if I put my mind to it. As a suggestion look at this web-site by Lawrence “Yogi” Wallace and try some of these, what I call table top projects. http://users.stratuswave.net/~wd8jik/

Sorry about your hospital related problems. You know its cold when I wear pants instead of shorts and I have been wearing pants the last week going to school. I have to survive crossing the street full of crazy drivers and -5 degree windshield, I do not know what is worse. I hope you get better, so you can finish your projects. - Peter

Hi Guys,

Well my health is O.K. for the moment (at our age we're always waiting for the other shoe to drop, right?) It's cold and SNOWY here in northeast Ohio. I've reached the conclusion that the cold of winter isn't too tough to deal with - it's the *** snow I can't stand. I hate to shovel it, hate to walk  on it, hate to drive in it, etc, etc, etc. Just may have to move back to coastal Connecticut - it was about as cold as it is here but only about a quarter as much snow.

Keep the faith - spring IS coming!

Walt

Hi DaveSmile,   None of us like hospital, ive been in and out over the past year . After 15 months of treat ment for a heart attack, that was sorted quickly by having a stent fitted, its the tablets that take the time to get just right.     Ok on the bright side we are heading for the feastive season and the shortest day will have passed, so on ward and up ward to the spring then we can all get out into the bit we call the garden/back yard in your neck of the woods.   The weather over here is cold we have had -10c at nights and the weather for the next 2 weeks is going down hill    snow its nice for the kids but not for the likes of you and me I hate the cold     Ikeep my rolling sock on shelves in the garage and my locos in totes so I dont have a lot of heavy lifting to do.
