Reversing Units HO vs G Scale

I belong to an HO scale club and have both HO and G scale --

HO auto-reverse modules are designed to operate on 14 to 16 Volts at a max current draw of around 3 Amps.  G scale voltage can be as much as 24 Volts at 10 to 15 Amps, depending on the system you're using.  For G scale, you should use only G scale components or you're likely to burn up the circuit board.

1. Current is only one issue, most g is over 14 volts and some units go to 24 volts.

The voltages for the smaller scales are 14 volts or less and the electronics are not designed for 24 volts.

Even some G manufacturers are limited to 18 and 21 volts.

Like both Dave and Ray said. It may not have the power requirements. Use it if you desire, just be prepared for all the smoke to excape the circuit board and wires. Be prepared to shut things down FAST!

As Ray said it may or maynot work, check your power output rating if it's 1 - 2 amps it will work with a small engine such as a Delton Doozy ( singel power truck ) or Porter  ( 0-4-0 ).

I'm no expert, but I think G scale engines generally pull a lot more amps than an HO engine. so a unit designed to operate HO may not be sufficient for G.

Is there a difference between HO scale and G scale reversing units?  Could you use a HO unit on a G scale track?  If not, why not?
