Was just wondering thanks for replies. My daughter and I do get them out and run them and have lots of fun...... :-)
Model trains are a hobby, not an investment strategy.
I don't buy things to preserve for some future owner. I buy the things that I want or need for ME.

My thoughts maybe unpopular, but model trains are not a good investment. If you buy a train get it out and run it. Get some enjoyment out of it. Let’s face it- how many of us are going to retire on a single model locomotive we bought years ago that is still new in a box. If you are lucky you get more than you paid for it, but what about inflation. My thoughts are-- get it out of the box and enjoy it. Its worth more to watch the kids’ eyes light up as Thomas comes rolling down the pike today.
Hi Travis, In answer to your post no I do not think they will be any more value then when you bought them. 1000s have be sols world wide and they are cheap on ebay.
Age is only a state of mind, keep the mind active and enjoy life
I have heard that Bachman is releasing a newer version of G- scale Locos in the Thomas series with all having moving eyes. I bought two sets last year, Thomas and Percy (eyes don't move) Does anyone think the value will increase if I keep these sets unused and buy the new sets or would it matter..Just wondering which sets will hold more value since there will be a variation. Thanks , Travis
