Rumor has it that QSI will replace the current Aristo pluc n play decoder in February 2011 with a new / improved model. If anyone has heard any details would appreciate hearing about it. Anyone considering installing an Aristo QSI decoder may want to hold off until this question gets clarified. Old model seems to be universally out of stock (perhaps because it's being replaced?).
Call Digitrax, certain models needed some changes.
Sometimes a pin has to be removed.

The flashing lights usually mean there's a short circuit in the wiring or the decoder is resetting itself back to factory default settings due to an overload or improper wiring.
You are correct, when I put the QSI in the new Dash 9 it worked without issue. I am looking inthe DCC manual to see if there is a decode for the light indication. I will also try and reduce the voltage as well and let you know, but the way, excellent choice on the QSI. great sound! Happy Thanksgiving!

Sounds like the Digitrax, not the loco.
Doesn't the Digitrax manual state what blinking lights mean? Often that means track voltage too high, that's what the Soundtraxx "Quasinami" does in the 3 truck shay.
Can you turn down your track voltage and see what happens?
Ok, So from the DCC I turn on track power and I get the lights and sound for the dash 9 to come on. I then select the locomotive and starting from speed zero, I turn the throttle by just one and get a single beep from the digitrax, and the loco stops, and only getthe lights blinking. I have to do a full reset to try again. Know of any good shops to send the loco in to be checked out? I know it is the loco, as I just received my second dash 9 and installed the QSI and it worked great.
So, you cannot move it at all, or you can move it slowly, and it quits when it accelerates?
Something does not make sense.
What happens when it stops, will it start again? what happens to the sound?
This is not typical.
Post some more information, I'm sure we can figure it out.
Ok, Got the decoder and installed it. tI am able to communicate with it via rhe DCC and have successfully changed the address. by the way the sound is great. this issue that I am having is that when I begin to advance the speed it stops and acts like there is a shore or something. I am using a digitrax dcc sustem withthe QSI decoder in the dash 9

There were some small variations in the Aristo socket that caused Digitrax to no longer support it.
Easy answer, sell the Digitrax, buy a QSI and it just works fine (with sound of course) and more features.

Trying to determine how to install a DCC decoder into a Aristo craft Dahs 9. Cannot figure out how to isolate the motors. anyone have any thoughts or documentation. I have an early run of the Dash 9. I have tried the Digitrax DG583AR, but that does not seem to work properly and I have been told that it is due to the dash 9 I have as being one of the early runs.
