Thanks Peter: This will get me on the right track. I should have measured the one in Maine this summer.

The boxcars used were called 40 and 8s since they were ment to carry 40 soldiers or 8 horses. Here is a good website about them - http://www.skylighters.org/encyclopedia/fortyandeight.html also here is a whole website on it. - http://www.mercitrain.org/  I hope you find what you are looking for - Peter

Does anyone know of where I could get a basic plan of the French 40 st 8 Boxcar ( The Merci Car) It is a good looking car and I would like to model one in 1:20.3. Unfortunately the Colorado car did not survive.

I would attach a picture of one but I am computer challenged.

Thanks
