There are some battery powered sprinkler timers that might work. Check that section of a Home Depot or Lowes or Menards.

I too have the timer on the 120-volt AC line, which feeds to a photocell, which then leads to the 12-volt DC power supply. My stuff comes on about 20 minutes before sunset and shuts off at midnight. I’ve not seen a reliable 12 volt timer.

On our layout the 12 volt power supply is on a 120volt AC timer you can purchase at any local Wal-mart or hardware store.  It just turns off the whole power supply for the lights.  From there it is plugged into a photo cell  so that they come on at dusk and turn off at about 9:30 in the evening. Easy, cheap and works safely.

12 volt dc timers

I am looking for a 12 volt DC timer. I need to have lights ,that are controled by a solar switch, to turn off about 4 or 5 hrs. after they come on.
