I'm an oddball, I model in 1/24th scale. So I'll be upsizing it from 1:29 to 1:24. I don't want to do a completely new body though, I want to use as much of the existing shell as possible.
Number one job will be to build a bigger cab. I'll also make new, taller handrails. If possible I would like to replace the stairs at each end of the loco, and maybe widen the walkways a little too. I want to put on Kadee #1 scale couplers too, which is what I use on the rest of my equipment.
Of course I will be repainting it for my railroad, and I'm still debating what color scheme to use. Probably red or maroon with golden yellow accents.
In addition to the rebuild, I'll be installing the Aristocraft Revolution receiver and Phoenix sound.
You could probably just use some stiff wire. (???)
OK Ray, you have my interest peeked, I have 4 in storage, and was going to repaint them for the Delta Northern as 1/29 standard gauge, BUT now I'm going to wait to see what you come up with. Will yours be 1/29 or are you going all the way up to 1.20.3?

The head is gray, hands don't work , back is weak, legs give out, eyes are gone, money go's and my wife still love's Me.
I use the white metal hand rail castings from Garden Railway Specialists. These I bore out to 2mm and then thread them onto brass rod. The stubs of the handrails I push into holes drilled into the bodywork and then CA them into position.

I'm planning to kitbash an Aristocraft RS-3 into a narrow gauge loco. Since I'll have to replace the handrails, I'm curious as to what other folks use for handrail material?
