I got the steps on the caboose, then discovered the bolsters on the Delton frame I was using were too close to the ends, so I moved them 3/4" towards the center. I have since got the porch glued on top. I will cover it and the steps with some diamond plate K&S sheet I have. You can see I switched the roof from the Delton pieces I had and am now using the roof I cut off an Aristo stock car. I had removed the body and made it into a flat car, so had the stock car body laying around.

It's just metal duct tape I got at the hardware store. Has a backing you peel off, AFTER you emboss your patterns/lines into it.

UP Caboose Build

I wanted to replace the USA UP caboose that I had. It was too large for the MDC cars that I mostly use, plus it was the wrong era. I found some plans in an old decal book that I got off ebay. I altered the plans to fit with the MDC cars. I took some pix of a UP caboose on display near here for details(well, as much as I do!). It is made from 1/8" plastic with 1/4" angle in the corners for re-inforcement. I'm using some Delton frames/roof pieces that I got off ebay last year. LGB trucks in this shot but I plan to make my own. It is a metal caboose so I'm using the metal duct tape like I used on my rotary snow blower. Embossed the rivet patterns from the back with a pounce wheel. Ball point pen for the lines from the front.
