Tom, Thanks for the info: so with that info I found my AC X-3 type tank car scale's out to short vershion of a 6500 gal tank on 30 foot frame ( 2ft Short ) tank came in at 6'dia only 2in smaller and it's 1/24 not 1/29. To be a 37'+ vershion of a 10K gal car the tank would have to be 8'7' in dia.......The two I have are labled 10k gal, 100,000lb load limit they should be 6500gal and 80,000 load limit. Next to be mesured is my B-mann tank on a flat.

Dave:

I went out to Google, typed in "UTLX T" and it gave an auto complete "UTLX Tank Cars" so this must be a fairly popular search. Found lots of info as per your request, BUT seems as though sizes changed with extreme regularity with time and content types. Have a look for yourself and narrow your search, like cargo type (oil, pickles, vinegar, etc.), era (1880’s, 1890’s, 1900’s, 1910’s 1920’s etc.) and "home route".
