Peter, thanks, did you enjoy your trip to Switzerland ? Notice everything over there is concrete or brick. First photo looks new, just built it, alot of work.

I am still thinking on it, thanks again for your reply

Here are a few pic’s. Most snow sheds (at least the old ones) were built as needed with materials on hand or in the immediate aera.

Just do a Google image search for "snowshed" and you will find a ton of examples.

SNOWSHED
Posted by Tinplate on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 7:37 PM

I NEED SOME HELP WITH BUILDING A SNOWSHED, MY TRACK IS RIGHT UP AGAINST A CONCRETE RETAINING WALL. NOT ROOM FOR MUCH OF ANYTHING FOR SEENERY (SORRY,I AM TALKING LGB) A SNOWSHED WOULD BE AWSOME. SOME PICTURES, PLANS, OR A WEBSITE WOULD BE A GREAT HELP.

I AM AWARE OF 2 TYPES THE SP ON DONNER PASS WAS A FULL SHED, AS TOP AND BOTH SIDES, OTHER TYPE ON THE RHB IN SWITZERLAND IS ONLY ONE SIDE (AGAINST THE MOUNTAIN) A TOP OF COURSE, BUT THE OUTSIDE WALL (LOOKING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN) IS OPEN. THE ROOF IS HELD UP BY COLLUMS , BUT YOU CAN SEE THE TRAINS AS THEY GO THRU. ANYTHING AT ALL WOULD BE APPRECIATED

MANY THANKS

Tinplate
