Sculpting beavertail cactus; Visitors to the RR
Posted by Ray Dunakin on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 1:25 AM
Recently I made a bunch of scale beavertail cactus for the railroad. Each one was hand sculpted from Premo brand polyclay -- the same material I use to make the human and animal figures. They really add a lot to the scenery! Here are a few pics, beginning with this one: . . . . . . . . . http://www.raydunakin.com/Site/IRR_Plants.html#19 . . . . . . . . . . . . Also: On Saturday, May 29th we invited all our neighbors to come see the railroad. It's been two years since the last time we did that, so there was a lot of new things for them to see. And for many of the neighbors it was their first time seeing the railroad. I only have a few pics -- as usual, when things got busy I forgot to take more pics: . . . . . . . . . http://www.raydunakin.com/Site/IRR_Events.html . . . . . .

Those flowers are tiny. I don't think I would have the patience to do that unfortunatly. Great job! - Peter

Wow, those look amaxzing. I can't imagine the time it must have taken to create the flowers.

Ray: I'm just going to have to report you to the 22nd Agricultural District for illegal harvesting of endangered spices of native vegetation. Laugh

For you non San Diegans 22nd Ag Dist runs the county fair, and monitors endangered plants.
