I did not know that Bachmann posted diagrams on their website-good to know. After seeing those diagrams it appears that an R/C or DCC installation would not be hard.
In looking at the diagrams on the B'mann web site, it has solder pads to attach the decoder wiring, but does not have a socket of either variety. (8-pin NMRA or much larger 22-pin).

Funny-I was just on that site. Might have had a break-through: the Bachmann rail truck is supposed to be DCC ready, too (according to Bachmann website), but it has neither NMRA connector or PnP socket. It has screw terminals, to sort of rewire the board. Take a look:
(got it from girr site when I was there a minute ago) Maybe this is the case with the Porter, too.
I believe it may be the same as the Davenport.
Here's a link from George Schreyer's excellent site:
(scroll down to see the circuit boards, there is a tiny daughter board in the 8 pin socket, look closely)

I would have thought that too, but the k-27 (I think) and the Forney (I know) have the aristo socket.
Hi Bachmann tell me its the standerd 8 pin that they are using on all new items, hope this helps

I have a few questions about this loco; first off I read it was DCC ready, but does anyone have one of these and can tell me for sure that it is DCC ready? Second, (if it is DCC ready) does this loco have the NMRA 8-pin connector, or the aristo craft style plug 'n' play socket? Thanks in advance.
