My latest distraction, after reworking the portable I had a bunch of bluefoam, wood and a 21" circle just laying around, I hate that, so I thought I'd try throwing them together ...
Still mucking about with it, maybe one day I'll actually be able to take it to a show somewhere
Have fun with your trains

I say, take it to a show just as it is, let the viewing public put the pepperoni and sausage on the pizza.

But have you got the track wired so you can run two engines at the same time?

Ahah, drag racing Macks from the King of Mack bashing. I know I need a new set of glasses, but I failed to see a start/finish line?
Are you brining the pizza to the Fairplex?
So far theres no word if the MLS group will have a booth or not.
Fantastic, but you sure do have a future in politics. I don't believe you have demonstrated individual control, running one slow and one fast (an impossible feat as are most political solutions), so you demonstrate something else. Bravo!
What type of locomotive is that?

That's very cool. I have always liked it in the OP's signature, but never knew what it was.
John
I like them (Macks) too.
Vic, I think you may have convinced me to someday build a Pizza layout!

Actually in the upper pic its this one, a Mack based Whadahellizit #2
My signiture pic is this one, an LGB Porter:
The Porter was used as a model for the Mack bash
Blue foam, pink foam, Geodesic foam? What's the difference? Pink foam is extruded foam, right? Geodesic foam is totally different, right? So what is best?
Pink foam and Blue foam are both the same foam, extruded polystyrene, but from different manufacturers. I use the blue Dow foam because I have a local source for it. The foam has a dense texture, cuts and carves really well. I bought a Woodland Scenics foam cutter and it does make working with the stuff MUCH easier to shape and form.
Geodesic foam is a 2 part mixed foam that has to be poured over a latex form to get the rock texture, that is then layed over either, I just learned to carve the rock forms into the blue foam but the geodesic stuff looks way better when painted correctly
DO NOT USE WHITE STYROFOAM, the large beaded stuff used for shipping packaging. It is a hellish mess to shape.
Forget about the layout and give us the pizza, Later RJD
Thanks for the information. I did a little research on foam cutters and if I was going to buy one I'd go with the Hot Wire Foam Factory products. Their products are a bit more $ but I think they're worth the extra few bucks. The "Pro" tools are pretty cool-take a look at them.
I definitely see room for a second mainline.
that is cool.
good day

I particularly like the Porter!
How long did it take you to make the other one?

For me a Whaddahellizit only a few days work usually spread over a couple weeks evenings. I did the Mylargescale Masterclass a few years ago (not offered anymore sadly) building a scratchbuilt 1/22.5 model of the Souther Pacific CP Huntington, the skill learned there and from subsequent bashes allow me knock these out pretty quickly, of course another point is to use whatever parts are on hand to build a beleivable looking freelance model without being restrained by rigidly adhering to prototype, its a lot of fun too to see where your parts supply leads you. For Whadda #2 I used a cab from a Scientific Toys loco, and scratched a boiler from plumbing pipe, scratched the tank from sheet styrene and scratched the bunker .
Large scale is very easy to bash in

Updates to the Personal Pan Pizza
I want to finish this one up so heres the layout to date:
The last picture is the true color, some reason the camera color shifts with the flash.
The bridge is now over a small wash and I'm going to do a small town/mine at the top, just something fun.
Added ball bearing wheels to the caboose, they work so good on this kind of track now I have to replace all the other shorty car with BBs. Guess I can always sell the metal wheels to subsidize the task.
Hi Ben glad to see you on the forum. It is carved blue foam with lots and lots of paint. Still adding paint and more stuff. Stay in touch.
Great job! Great pictures! Thanks for posting.
First building finished, a small (very small) dry good store.
Foam core with wood overlay, Precision Products doors/windows, Paper Creek roof paper
Next a small (very small) hotel/bar.
Nice small store, what size is the foot print?
