Thanks Jerry;

I am sure tempted at building one. I model narrow gauge , mostly D&RGW. I think you mentind that you used an old battery powerd drill for propulsion, I hapen to have a couple so that would work.

Frank,

  I used:   (Marbeck #430 impeller / Eureka part number 12988)

I got that off Rayman's site. There are a few construction photos on my web site, probably under the projects button on the left side as you scroll down a bit.  I had to cut off about an 1/8" on my band saw to get it to fit okay in the 4" pipe cap I used for the enclosure, then squared around that.

Jerry; What did you use for a blade on your Rotary ? What diameter is it.

Thanks Frank B.

 Here's a shot of the two together.  I may use one of the Delton frames for a caboose I designed up, but other projects get in the way. Turning wheel castings for my 844 build right now, probably a year long project to make that!

That looks awesome! What other tank cars are going to make with the other delton frames? Nice work. - Peter

Thanks, I probably used the same pix. I did take one of it on my tour of the CHeyenne Roundhouse, then someone sent me one of the other side.  The rotary itself is based on an Aristo B unit, still need to convert it's trucks to battery, but it's an easy access. The rotary's blade is turned by an old 12 volt drill attached to a 18 volt battery. Ron Senek advised me of that, spins faster.

Tank Car for Rotary Snow Plow Done
Posted by Jerry Barnes on Thursday, April 29, 2010 10:30 AM

I got my tank car finished to put behind the rotary snow plow I made. It holds the batteries and RC stuff, converting the plow over to battery for the trucks.

Tank car I used a Delton frame I got from that guy on ebay that sells lots of Delton stuff, have several more! Ozark end castings and a cardboard tube. I covered it with metal duct tape.  Plumbing end cap for the dome. Ladder is cut from some 1/2" square metal screen I got at the lumber yard. Laser decals were designed on my iMac with the Color IT art program, simple to use, but easy to master. Had some spare trucks laying around.  I like putting my name on things I make, so someday whoever ends up with it will know.

Tank car aboveEnd caps are still on a bit loose, will fit them tighter once I work out all the RC/battery.
