Can anyone help me...??
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, June 11, 2004 7:48 PM

I posted this a little earlier on the other forum but am trying for more responses here. Do any of you guys know where I can find a large scale "Cabbage" or "Rushton" stack? I am scratchbuilding an old Baldwin 2-6-2 logger that made excursions near where I live but can't find a suitable stack to use on it. For those of you who haven't seen a Cabbage stack....check out http://algersullivan.org/bring_back_100/bringback_1/IMAG012A.JPG . That is the engine I am attempting to scratchbuild (in the condition shown). I know Bachmann now has the Heislers with available cabbage stacks but I don't think they will let me just buy that part off of them? Also, I have heard that B-Man's Spectrum line is really hard to get parts for? Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to make one (materials, tips, etc?) or where I can find one to use? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
Aaron

Aaron,
Did you try contacting Bachmann? As for making one...ever see those plastic eggs they sell at dollar stores around Easter? The two halves join together in the middle. I can see maybe cutting off the ends to attach the "egg" portion on to an existing funnel. Looks kinda' like the right shape. Hope this helps...Later eh...Brian.

I have tried e-mailing B-man several times but haven't got a response yet :(. That sounds like a good idea with the eggs....I'll see if I can round some up to see how it looks.

Thanks,
Aaron

Aaron, might be a weekend thing, meaning bachmann techs are off and no one is there to recieve your request.

Aaron, go to the Bachmann website and use the "Ask the Bach-man" forum to pose your question. You should get an answer within a day that way.

You must be from Arkansas. I have a magazine with an article and pictures of that 2-6-2. I really like the Rushton stack, too, and am hoping to buy a "replacement" from Bachmann.

In the meantime, I have an article with drawings of Argent #3, a 3 foot gauge 0-6-0 which has that same stack. Maybe you could use it for dimensional info. It is in a pdf , and I will e-mail it to you if you'd like.

I have also wondered about using a small door knob as the basic form for the "cabbage."

I'd like to know if you or anyone hears about availability of a stack like this through Bachmann or any supplier. (Hello, Ozark Miniatures!)
