Aristocraft Revolution smoke board wiring for an LGB Porter/ other brands.

I am confused at how to wire the Revolution smokeboard to a LGB engine (specificly a Porter), or any other brand (beside Aristo) for that mater. I know you wire the smoke control board as the sixth function on the Auxillary function harness, but after that I'm lost.

I've done a few of these, and they all boil down to three connections: Track power to run the smoke board, power from the board to the smoke unit, and the auxillary harness to the small trigger wires on the smoke control board to toggle the unit on/off via function 6.

You need to cut the Smoke #1 lead halfway up the wire. You'll use the plug end to insert into the power jack to power to the smoke control board unit. Connect these two wires to your constant track power (up to 22 volts DC) . Secondly, use the ends from the Smoke #1 lead to connect to your smoke unit - you will need to trace the wires that feed it to see if it comes from a circuit board or switchable on-off board, and bypass that switch (the smoke control board is now the on-off switch). Lastly, the brown-black wires from the wiring harness must be connected to the small black-white wires from the smoke control board. These will send the on/off signal to the smoke board when you toggle function #6.

Smoke #2 is not used - wrap up the cord with the black twist-tie that comes with it and stow it away. If you're sure you'll never reuse this smoke board and potentially need that second smoke unit control, you could cut this cord off completely at the board.

The only polarity to worry about is the connection to the fan that blows the smoke out of the stack. If you get it backwards, it'll suck smoke out through the fan - it that happens, just swap the leads.

Slide proper-sized shrink tubing over the leads before making the connections. I use the Western Union splice method (you can Google it) then apply flux and solder each connection. Slide the heat shrink tubing over the connection and apply heat to seal the connection (I use the soldering iron to carefully shrink the tubing). Add smoke fluid, and have fun!

Thanks for the help...I had forgoten about this post.

Like I said, thanks, but I think that when I move to R/C it will now be the NCE Gwire not the Revolution.
