I use plastic new bright track in my garden railway. I bought it from the manufacturer for $2.00 a piece. I screwed the track down to 4 by 4 pressure treated posts. The track has remained strong and intact over time. This is better than using stainless steel or brass track. This is a cheaper in $ approach. You can convert LGB, BACHMANN, ARISTOCRAFT, or etc. trains to radio control battery operation and run them on plastic track. I live in a very cold to very hot environment.
