In Adelaide for 2 weeks in September 2004. Any garden railway setups to see, and any good shops.

Hi Tony
Go to the usefull information FYI links thread click on the link for the Toenail Ridge shortline.
There is a Railway Museum as well.
I think?? they still have some trams (street cars).
If you can get too it not sure how far from the city it is wrong side of state line The Cockle Train is a must for the rail enthusiast real steam in season same goes for the Pichi Richi (spelling??) Railway.but that is a lot further out of the city.
Thats what I know of there may be more.
regards John

Tony,
e-mail me direct when you get closer to Sept.
My GR http://www.trainweb.org/toenailridge/ is certainly open for you to visit but Adelaide has a dearth of others.
We have the National Rail Museum, http://www.natrailmuseum.org.au/common/nrm_a0_index2.html
SteamRanger http://www.steamranger.org.au/
the St Kilda tram Museum http://www.railpage.org.au/aetmsa/
also trams still running as commuters.
The Pitchi Richi RR http://www.prr.org.au/ is about 4 hours drive north
The Ghan, Indian Pacific & Overland http://www.gsr.com.au/ghan/ all leave from Adelaide passenger station
LargeScale hobby shops are slim on the ground here, in fact non-existant
You can get my direct e-mail from my URL
Also give some thought to joining our ozLSgroup http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ozLSgroup/
and the Kiwi equivalent http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nzgardenrail/

Phil what is going to happen next week Swannies knocked over St kilda yesterday I could have been a fluke what about Port Adeleide next week.
Guys this is to do with the AFL (Australian Football League) Sydney Swans versus Port Adeleide next week, neither side are going as well as they did last year.
Rgs Ian.

HI was in Adelaide in Oct 1999 , visited Steamranger ,Pichi- Richi , and the museum downtown - all excellent . Also managed to get a cab ride on Gm type for about 10miles near Bordertown - then chased the 5 unit consist all the way to the Adelaide Hills. -- great stuff !!
