When I was in HO I used Elmer’s white glue indoors. I applied it to the rail bottom and attached rails to ties using a soldering iron. But I agree with Brian you’ve got some pretty wild temperature extremes.

An added hint, avoid long straight a ways and put in curves. I live in an area that can have temperature variations of 50 degrees in a twenty four hour period; curved track will absorb expansion and contraction without damage.

Good luck, Rob

Glue will never work except for maybe indoor use. Rail expansion and contraction will pop the rail off in no time.

You could try carpet tacks if you can't get spikes - Track - Hand-laid - Quick & Cheap

G scale spikes are often hard to get here.

I wonder if anyone has tried gluing track to wood ties and tested to see how they stand up in cold cllimates. Our extremes here are -40C to +40C  ( -40 F to 100 F )
