Well back then when that scene was depicted there was still old growth to cut down. The wood is really checked too. Its not a fresh cut. (still looks good though.)Laugh

I thought we no longer cut down the old growth forest.  Those logs are serious old growth!

Thanks! It is strange seeing you're own pics in the mag. In this hobby you learn a lot! Taking pics is just one! You just got to love it!!

Steam on the Bel Del
So that is what a Climax looks like. Can hardly tell it apart from a Shay. Sign - Oops

Oh Glenn, you trouble maker!  Evil. I didn't even notice the caption until you mentioned. I did notice those log cars could use a big shot of weathering!  Black Eye

My Feb 2010 GR arrived via the Reno stage Thursday. Congratulations to Sean McGillicuddy for his fine photo in the Readers Gallery and Ray Dunakin’s second part of sculpting realistic figures. That certainly looks like a Shay on the cover?

Have Fun, Rob

A Climax is easily distinguished by the drive pistons at a 45 degree angle to a central gearbox. Drive shaft runs down the centerline of engine.

A shay has the drive pistons vertically mounted just in front of the cab. Drive shaft runs along the side, exterior to drive wheels.
