Another one here who never got to meet him, but enjoyed reading his posts.

My condolences and prayers to the family.

My sincerest condolences to Dianne and her family. I too will miss seeing Bob's postings here on the forum. He did seem like an old friend even though we never met, he'll be sorely missed. Thank you for posting his photo.  It's good to be able to put a face to the memory of someone I feel I knew.

I went to Bob's service yesterday, what a kind and giving man he was!  He spent his life in service of others and left behind loyal friends and a wonderful family.    I will miss sitting on the back porch with him watching trains and solving all the world's problems over a glass of ice tea and Dianne's "church social" sandwiches.

My life has been enriched by knowing him.   He was a good man.

Even though I never had the pleasure of shaking his hand, we shared good fun over the years on this forum. His wit will be missed in this house. Our condolences go to his family.

I offer my condolences to Captain Bob’s wife and family please pass them on. He’s the friend I never met. When I joined the Train’s Forum I noticed his sign was “Slower in Lower Delaware” and took a chance that he might live around Lewes, DE. I sent a personal Email through the Forum telling him I had been in the US Coast Guard, stationed at Lewes in the late 50’s, early 60’s. He shot back an Email beginning our electronic friendship. We did a lot of reminiscing, I spent all my liberty in Lewes;. Turns out we both worked at the same lookout tower at the end of Cape Henlopen at the same time, I was also a Lighthouse Tender at Brandywine Shoal Light and often watched with envy as his Pilot Ship sailed by; but we never actually met, I’ll miss him. Sincerely, Robert “Rob” Robson

Bob was a good friend of mine, he always showed kindness and generosity beyond any expectations to both me and my family.  He was the kind of man that many strive to be, but few achieve.  He will be sorely missed, not only as a modeler, but as a friend.

My condolences to his wife Di and all of his family.  May the Angels of Abraham lead Bob dancing into the Kingdom of God where there is no more illness, sorrow or pain, and may light of the Lord shine upon him forever.

Farewell my brother.

It is with a great deal of sorrow that I announce the death this afternoon of Bob Johnson. Bob was a very active participant on this forum, as well as a regular attender of ECLSTS each year. He was one of the founding fathers of the Shoreline Garden Railroad Club, and a dear friend. He has been failing for the last year, with something similar to Lou Gehrig disease. He hit his head in a fall last Thursday, and was fine for two days. Then on Saturday he had a seizure and passed out. I am not sure if he ever regained consciousness. I saw him yesterday, and he could not respond to anyone. The club sends its sincere condolences to his wife Dianne, and his sons, and grandchildren. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
