How are things done in the US?
Some years ago, in (usually) sunny Southern California, the Highway Patrol closed a major through road over a mountain pass (Tehachapi) for 1/4 inch of powder snow!
If the authorities had done the same in New York (where I was born) or South Dakota (where I was stationed for a while) a car owner could garage his wheels in October and come back for them sometime in April.
On Tehachapi, while the road was closed, the railroad just kept on rolling.

Well its arrived the first winter snow fall about 8-12 inches and the country has rolled to a halt. Will we never learn how to cope in England? Its time our goverment takes a good look at how things are done in europe and the US. Still a very Merry Christmas to you all where ever you abide
