Bachmanns metal tipper ore cars look almost dead-on for 7/8 scale, they are enormous in any other scale and have been used by other 7/8thers, HLWs mini car line are inexpensive and can be easliy bashed into 7/8 also. Your looking at alot of kitbashing as almost everything in that scale is custom. HLWs Mack chassis would be a good choice to build a 7/8 critter on top of, just discard the cab and hoods and keep everything else, something like a small Brookville would fit nicely on top of that.

   Have fun with your trains

You can also do similar models in a smaller scale (G - 1:22.5 or 1:24) but you may get inspiration from the links I mentioned. I have a large number of other links too. Just add @yahoo.com to my screen name here to email me for them.

Welcome to the confusing world of large scale! All of the above run on Gauge #1, G scale, 45 mm track except the 7/8n18 which run on smaller 32 mm track (O gauge).

Scotty L's diagram may help -

Its time to look into 7/8's scale (1:13.7) two foot narrow gauge railroading (its one of my interests)

Pete's railroad is one of the best but I heard he tore it all up recently to do it all over -

Does anyone have any ideas about what types of small cars I could make for my "field railroad" type layout?

If anyone has plans to build this type of thing and is willing to share them it would be great!
