We didn't get a chance to visit the new depot up close during the club's annual picnic, but what we saw of it looked really nice. Too bad the steam loco was out of commission that day too; I was hoping to shoot some video.

They will be having a dedication ceremony for the new depot this Saturday, 10-10-09 at 11:00 AM.  If I can find my “cowboy boots” I’ll be one of the “victims” for the “armed bandits” to rob.  All depends on if the wife is doing well enough for me to be out of the house that long.

Now thats what I call a backyard layout!Wink

They could use a bit more real estate to put down more track.  As it is, one lap takes 3 minutes (or more if there are any kids standing on the rails at a crossing.  But for $2.50 you get to ride for 3 laps.

Take a ride on the Poway Midland RR.  First video is watching the train pass.  Second is from the rear of the train.  CAUTION: Either put in ear plugs or turn the volume down.  New camera and I had the audio gain a bit too high.

Before anybody tries to chastize me for being too close to the rails while filming, I was outside the "pedestrian fence".

When I paid for my ticket, I had some fun at the expence of the ticket agent.  I think he was about 13 years old.  I asked for a one way ticket, he replied that they only sold round trip tickets.  I said OK, I'll just get off at the next station down the line.  He said they only had one station on the line, about that time Granddad stepped in and told grandson that I was just teasing him.  Then the young lad took a ticket and with his pen he scratched out "Round Trip Ticket" that was printed and wrote in "One Way Only, Must exit at next Station."  This line is operated by a very dedicated crew of voulenteers.  These folks all deserve a rousing round of appaluse.
