Its a one piece molding, no movement, that was one of the biggest criticisms when it first appeared, even I didnt like it, but I figure I can graft something onto it if it really bugs me. Hopefully if they ever reissue this they will give it operating valve gear.
Have fun with your trains
It so despiratly needs proper valve gear on it! That would do wonders for its look, both in the European and American versions.
LHS mechanic and geniune train and antique garden tractor nut case!
I wish I cold find that thing sold alone. I've go no interest in the set or the rolling stock, but I could have some fun with that loco. None of my regualr retailers sell it except as a set
I'm not ill, well not physically
Yep this one gets paint and some detailing but otherwise stays as is, I've been waiting for something like this profile for as long as Ive been in this goofy gauge. The only alternatives from Accu and USA are so bloody expensive to me to be no-starters, as I told a freind, if I started today, I'd likely consider myself priced out of this hobby.
This one is beginning to sound like Vic is planning on using it as is. Almost a run it out of the box. Sounds like he may be doing a little cleanup and customization but not a bash! Some body needs to run over to his house and take his temp, and make sure he is not sick!

Sheesh the paint on the wheels is a royal PITA to remove! But once off I now have power pick up via the wheels as well as the skates.
That was one major hickup on Pikos part. The paint blocked the power pick up leaving only the skates to draw electricity which ment unless its flying along the track, at anything near proto speed it would stall on every switch frog, now with paint removed its got at least 6 point power pickup, I dont think the center wheels have pickups. Swapped to couplers to Bachmanns, looking to add a link & pin mount somewhere on the end beams.
One nice thing is directional lighting, didnt now that till I started testing it. Pics when I can.
Vic
thats a nice looking engine . the price sounds good to . BEN
It has been reported that the following photo is Vic headed to the storage shed with all of his "Mack Bashes".
New toy to mess with:
At $75 I couldnt resist, I know all about its foibles but I figure its Germie cousin has gotten good reviews on GSM and I really really like the looks of this squat little monster. I'll be selling a couple more engines to make room for this one.
Besides I dont think theres anything mentioned I cant deal with
