I started playing around with an actual logging operation. I still have to build a few shacks for the camp, a steam donkey and the likes. I have some figures and got some stumps in the ground. The log cars were filled today with the first of the trees to be cut. I will keep this post and uptdate as the crew makes more progress.
PRETTY NEAT LOOKING. I LIKE YOUR STUMPS......THEY LOOK REALISTIC. ONE QUESTION: THE LOGGING CREW MUST REALLY BE NEAT FREAKS, FOR THERE'S NO LIMBS OR TOPS LAYING AROUND!!! TO BE REALLY PICKY, THE GUY WITH THE AX MUST REALLY BE SKILLED TO BE ABLE TO CHOP SO NEATLY AND STRAIGHT. DON'T YOU JUST HATE IT WHEN SOMEONE DOES THIS? JUST HAVING FUN WITH YOU!!! I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING LATER POSTS AND YOUR FUTURE BUILDING ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

John: Give the man a break! He said he has a bunch more to do.
Shawn: Excellent start. I do have to agree with John, you might want to add a bit of debris. Have you thought of making a paste of sawdust and glue to put around the stumps?

DEAR SNOWSHOE, I WAS ONLY JOKING IN WHAT I WROTE AND I HOPE I DIDN'T OFFEND YOU. I REALLY DO APPRECIATE YOUR WORK AND LOOK FORWARD TO SEE THE PROGRESSION. I'M SUFFERING FROM A TOOTH THAT I CAN'T GET PULLED TILL NEXT MONDAY AND THE PAIN MEDICATION HAS DEFINIATLY AFFECTING ME. HAPPLY, MY WIFE IS IN GERMANY FOR WORK AND SHE DOESN'T HAVE TO PUT UP WITH ME. ASK THE DOG AND TWO CATS WHAT'S IT LIKE AROUND HERE WITH A CRANKY, HURTING MAN!!!
Thans guys. John dont worry I was not offended. Thats why i like to post my stuff. To get feedback. What one misses another caches. I was actualy going to get the stumps to be more realistic by cutting one side higher then the other etc..... For now im just getting my ideas down and little by lttle the details will come. I do like the limb ideas. Any ideas help, like the saw dust piles. thats a great idea as well.
Ignoring the little details, the overall scene you've created is great. It totally captures the spirit of a logging operation, congratulations, that's great work!

> by cutting one side higher then the other etc.....
Not the best pic but it was handy. I saw mine at different heights from each side and then break the last bit by hand to create the splintery part where the tree would have snapped under its own weight.
Hope that gives you some ideas.
Best,TJ
