Aristo Mikado to PRR consol

I posted this elsewhere but thought it might be useful here. This is a kitbash that marries the boiler shell and cab of a lionel Atlantic to the frame and drive of an Aristo Mikado:

The idea comes from Rex Ammerman--it's a relatively easy bash. The Mikado is an excellent puller but on my layout, with some 8 foot curves on it, it just had too much overhang to look good. The new loco is very close to a PRR H8 to H10 and it looks much better on narrow curves while still pulling like the MIkado

I also picked up a non working Atlantic and restored it to operating condition--added some lights, fixed the sloppy drive, and added more power pickup--it now has power pickup on all 18 wheels. I've since added some control rods for the bell, whistle and throttle. The Lionel Atlantic is a really great model once you work on it, but it takes some work

Skeptical but resigned
