GDS.: Colorado Model makes some very good stuff. I've got a few of his structures (6), and the are all very substantially sturdy. The kits are very easy to bash into something bigger. Look at his engine house, he sells it by the piece so that you can build to fit the size you want, or build a completely different "one of a kind" masterpiece.

Brian, that Colorado Model link is a good one. Very affordable stuff.
You could go 7/8n2 scale/gauge (1:13.7 scale 2 foot narrow gauge) and base your layout on the Gilpin Tram. Lots of info on their mine here - http://gilpintram.com/mines_mills.html
Colorado Model has a new mining building kit. A few of them kitbashed into one would be pretty impressive - http://coloradomodel.com/default.htm
Dick Weatherby made a few from corrugated aluminum from soda cans -
The lads over at Gn15.info have done some neat mining scenes with animatronics -

I don't think anyone makes one in G scale but you should be able to find one in HO scale and scale it up. I've even bought a couple of HO kits, assembled them and scaled them up to scratch buils a G scale structure. Depending on just what you want our best bet might be to contact Dan Hoag at Eaglewings Ironcraft at http://www.eaglewingsironcraft.com/ Dan might be able to build you an operating rig.
I am going to build a G Scale railroad on 2.5 acres I have next to my house, I want to base it on a ore hauling railroad. Can any of you folks tell me where I can buy a loading facility or plans to build one. I would like a plant that operates or I can convert it for live operation. Thanks in advance for any information given.
