I have both the RCS and some of Del's equipment, and they are good. I do have to admit my trains with just an on/off switch and a battery pack that gives the speed I like to see get a lot more use than any other setup.

to save you the time, I copied that which I posted here in another topic.....
We use the RCS brand of control (RCS and EVO, both with GREAT results), made in AU by Tony Walshman his web site is here:
http://rcs-rc.com/
the RCS throttles are contolled by a small hand-held transmitter, he also produces a throttle that can be used with RC Car type 2 stick transmitters, they are sold under the EVO brand here:
http://evo-rc.net/
Tony has yet another control, brand new, Beltrol, catering to those who prefer the 2.4 systems avail, you can find it here:

I purchase all of my gear from Dave at NWRCS, here is his site:
http://dnkgoods.home.mindspring.com/
I usually call for any needs I have, the number is listed there on the site.
Del Tapparo also manufactures Manual and Remote systems in addition to his G Scale Graphics.
His site is here:

I've not used Del's gear, but his letters are outstanding.
Hope this helps, if you are interested make sure you look into these tutorials from RCS.
Good Luck!
Dimension Engineering stuff is very high quality. I spent some time talking with the owner at last year's NEAT Fair (RC electric flying event). The Sysren speed controls are appealing because the switching rate is very high so they don't generate the whine from motors like other ESC's.

I was actually the person who posted the link to "Dimension Engineering". As you are in the US, (I presume?), the Radio Frequencies will be "wrong" but I think that I can point you in the right direction.
http://www.cabbagepatchrailway.co.uk/kitchen3.html
If you are in an open area then you can use 27MHz AM R/C transmitter for more built up area use a 45 MHz (US=75Mhz?) FM transmitter and for compact locations a 2.4 GHz transmitter (I don't know if 2.4 GHz is legal in the US!)
If you read and follow the instructions for the SYSREN 10 and 25 ESC's (Electronic Speed Controllers) then you should have no problems.
Cut the cables from the motor and transfer them to the ESC.
Plug the Battery Eliminator Connection (BEC) 5Volt feed from the ESC into the power port of the Receiver.
Take one of the output feeds from the Receiver and wire that into the ESC.
It REALLY is that simple!

The Home of Articulated Ugliness
I've got a graden railroad right now but track maintenance is killin me. I see many options, but I like the sound of plain old battery powered engines and somekind of remote control.
Someone posted a link to Dimension Engineering, but could some tell me where to find a do it myself kit or help me with a shopping list that I could assemble and install?
Thanks in advance.
