We have not done much work on our railway for about five months due to the weather, but things are looking up; we got down to 19 deg C two nights ago and 18 last night.

It has been too hot to work and we need to do a lot of concrete moulding at this time and it goes off too quick above about 22 deg C. So with the cooler weather upon us we are at least talking about getting started again.

Been knee deep into my annie=mogul build, unfortunately not much to show yet. just a lot of fitting and measuring and cutting. Probably more time spent staring at the model print and photos trying to figure it all out before breakout the dremel and razor saw and take it past the point no return only to find out I just screwed myself !

Thanks but the "pool room" lettering come out terribly. I plan to redo the whole sign and the "town hall" sign a little bit larger with either vinyl letters or stencils. I liked the 8-ball prototype photo so much, I had to have it on my layout.

Been following the progress at MLS for the Niblock's building, if I didnt say so there , it came out excellent![:D]

Tim, better to leave the realities of the pork store to the imagination. The dude on the step is also a Homie. I use brake fluid to remove any unwanted graphics from their clothing.

Only a few building facades to share, had to clear them off my worktable. They are only finished to a basic level, no added details or weathering yet, get to it one of these years.[;)]

Bill nice buildings and fat guy. My son likes the pig store. He thinks they sell supplies and that it is a place for pigs to shop. I'll leave him to his thoughts.

I haven't been up to a whole lot the last few weeks really
I built my first railroad car and got an idea how it will look when finished

then I thought well I can't leave the other offerings out so it began somewhat like this:

There are detail parts on the way and all of these where built based of plan #68 from the magazine [8D]

These are the four projects I completed during this year's winter building season:









They include the coal truck bash, insurance office, cabin, and pork store. All were completed with minimal expense. When I'm at the ECLSTS this coming weekend I'll be looking for building materials and ideas.

We're roughly the same age and I too am on the dreaded "fixed income" so I fully understand exactly what you're saying. But let me add this to your comments; over the past several years I watched my father-in-law waste away with Alzheimer’s disease. The last few years of his life were a total loss to him. He could have had millions of dollars or very few, it made no difference in his quality of life. The point is this, if we’ve got the resources and there are things we want to do, places we want to visit and things we really want to buy, we should do it now. There’s a really good chance that later on all the extra money we’ve saved will bring us very little happiness indeed.

I must say I enjoy conversing with all of you as well. I've learned much here trains and about people from other places.

Capt, remember it took me over a year or it seemed like it!, to afford buying a
$ 130.00 some dollar loco to hack it up[:p][;)]! with out guilt of spending money on myself. Maybe if I start now I'll have track by 2007??[:D]

Nice word to hear these days, pride. Seems to be a lot of that missing on this planet these days. In my line I meet a lot of young students who have a distinct lack of it in the way they live and in themselves. I am in the forum in the morning when I get to work and I read about what you guys are doing in your bit of the planet and it sets me up for the day. Now I'm proud to 'speak' to you guys.

This is a very nice thought and I know all about get allocation of funds for this past time, my problem is quite the reverse of many. I am retired on as they say a fixed income but I have several investments that I would love to draw on, but they are all doing so well that every $1 I draw out, I feel that is taking about $3 off my personal money that has to last the rest of my life (sobering isn' it). but balanced against that is how long am i going to live (even more sobering). My wife is an accountant and it is her I have to thank for being as fortunate as I am, so what she thinks is most important as well.

So if you worry about having the money, think about me and would you swap? I think not mate.

I too enjoy sharing what I have managed to build. When I was wanting my Bachmann Shay and no funds were allocated for it I made this deal. I asked my wife if it was OK to take on a few extra runs at work. I told her that I would split the overtime with her 50/50 since someone would have to be at home with the kids while I worked. She agreed and that is the story behind that loco. Our basement project has been built by picking up a few items at Home Depot every other pay day. For some this is really painful but for me it works. A bit at a time. As for encouragement I find this whole forum to be very encouraging. I look forward to seeing who posted what when I get home. The best thing that I have noticed that brings me the warmest feeling in this forum is when we take pride in each other’s layout, those times when we share in each other’s successful kit-bashes and scratch-builds. [^]

That does so much to motivate me in those financially depressed moments when I think my layout is a distant dream. Thanks you all for that!
